Once again we return to the Bank of Japan’s press releases to find more Japanese language vocabulary in the finance domain. This posting uses releases issued between 20 and 24 July 2015 with a concentration of terms focused on lending.

Notes

• As you can see adding 先  to 貸付(a loan) produces 貸付先( a borrower). Another term for a borrower is 借り手 (かりて) which, also, has the meaning of tenant.

First Kanji

The first Kanji in the main terminology is 貸, a JLPT N4 character, which means to lend.

Occupational Japanese

The U.S. War Department provided U.S. Military personnel with these Warnings phrases in February 1944 from pages 6-11 of their Japanese Phrase Book TM 30-611.

Take Cover!	蔭に入れ！	かげにはいれ！
Identify yourself!	身分証明書を見せろ！	みぶんしょうめいしょをみせろ！
Surrender!	降参しろ！	こうさんしろ！
Throw down your arms!	武器を捨てろ！	ぶきをすてろ！
Obey or I’ll fire!	聽かないきかないと撃つぞ！	きかないとうつぞ！

聽かないきかないと撃つぞ！more literally translates to “If you’re headstrong, I will fire.”
