  • 持続可能な発展 is composed of the word for sustainable (持続可能) and development(発展) with the copula, , used to indicate 持続可能 modifies 発展.
  • The Bank of Japan's announcement regarding the sale of long-term bonds, also, indicated the grammatical construction of the term for bond's duration to be the same as in English. 2年債、5年債、10年債、20年債、30年債、40年債 for 2, 5, 10, 20, 30, and 40-year bonds.
  • The term, long-term government bonds, is composed of two compounds. 長期 (long term) represents the relative holding period. 国債 (government bonds) would more literally translate into national debt, and leads one to the term for corporate bonds as 社債(しゃさい).
  • Nikkei's use of the acronym, MVNO, indicates that their readers would be familiar with the abbreviation. The term, , is composed of 仮想 (virtual). 移動体通信 (mobile network), and 事業者 (operator).
